Aren't tomatoes supposed to be the easiest thing to grow? One look at our pitiful plants and you would think not. The main problem is watering. I've got them on the drip line, but it drips other things that have different water needs, like our new groundcover starts (vinca minor and creeping Jenny).

Since it's been so hot, these guys need help, but the 'maters HATE all that water and are dying off. I can't have that. Must have fresh BLT's with basil aioli soon. That reminds me, I've got to get the basil in. Last trip the nursery, they just had the strange, not-so-tasty varieties.
This may be the year that all the dirt along the back fence (and everywhere for that matter) becomes beautiful and weed-free. It's not fun digging out goat's heads and alfalfa 3x per year in over 1,000 square feet.
I always try to have the vision of coming back to my home years later and admiring the horticultural foresight we had way back when the trees were small and the home was new.
